Defense Verdict In Fall Down Stairs Case Even Though Stair Defects Were Revealed At Trial

Williams v. Woodbridge Condo Association involved an employee of a property management company that managed a condominium complex. The plaintiff sustained a herniated lumbar disc requiring surgery after falling down a set of exterior stairs at the property. At trial, the evidence revealed the stairway did have defects. Nonetheless, Brian Shaughnessy obtained a defense verdict after we presented the jury with evidence that the plaintiff ignored a safer alternative route. Brian also obtained testimony damaging to plaintiff's case through cross-examination of her treating orthopedic surgeon along with testimony from a representative of her employer concerning her lost wage claim.
